Dear Clergy, Parishes, and People of the Territory:

This letter announces some changes coming in the Territory Office. On September 1, 2022, Margaret Mitchell, Territory Office Coordinator, will be retiring. Margaret has been on leave over the summer with Melissa Green providing office support for the Territory.   We are also excited to announce that effective September 1, 2022 Claire Tosoff will begin as the Executive Assistant to the Bishop of the Territory of the People.

Margaret has been the Territory Office Coordinator since the fall of 2017 when she started in a 4-month temporary position. After being with us for 4 ½ years she briefly retired on May 31, 2021 but came back to the position as the Territory went through personnel changes.   Margaret has been a consistent, capable, knowledgeable, and pastoral presence in the Territory. She has organized countless events and can always be found taking minutes at various meetings. She has committed time to the Policy Committee, coordinated our Safe Church training, and has been active with the Lay Ministers of Word and Sacrament. We are so grateful for Margaret’s commitment and service in the Territory office and beyond.

We celebrate with her as she, once again, enters into retirement and are thrilled that this will open up for her more time to spend with her beloved husband, Jim, with her family, and doing the things that being her joy. Thank-you Margaret for your commitment to the Territory.

Claire joins the Territory staff team after almost 9 years as the Office Coordinator at St. Paul’s Anglican Cathedral in Kamloops. Claire brings with her knowledge of the Territory of the People and office experience from both within and outside of the Anglican Church. She is pastoral in her nature, scrapbooks in her free time, understands the complexities of life in parishes and in the Territory, and is always willing to learn something new.

We know that this transition for Claire’s work also brings a transition to the people of St. Paul’s Cathedral. We invite prayers for the Cathedral as they enter this time of transition.

In Christ,

The Rt. Rev Jane Alexander Assisting Bishop, Territory of the People
