June 14th saw members from St. Paul’s Cathedral drive down to Merritt to lead a service for the St. Michael’s congregation. This idea for the service was born by a member of the Cathedral who has longstanding ties to the community.

The service was to be an offering of blessing and encouragement for St. Michael’s as they enter a time of transition after the retirement of their incumbent, Reverend Angus Muir. Members of St. Paul’s played the piano, read the days readings, lead the intercessions, and helped with communion.

The youngest volunteer was a member of St. Paul’s Sunday school, who acted as altar server.  Dean Kyle presided and preached. The intent was for the members of St. Michaels to “simply receive” the blessing of the service.  A wonderful morning of worship was had, and was followed by time of fellowshop.
