Dear Diocesan Representatives,

I’m writing to share how Alongside Hope is actively supporting communities currently affected by wildfires and contributing to response efforts.

All responses have been informed by direct and specific needs of the individual Diocese & community.

In Saskatchewan, we are supporting a response implemented by The Anglican Diocese of Saskatchewan to assist community members impacted by the wildfires and their immediate needs. This is being done with the creation of a small fund which can be accessed, as needed, to support those affected by the fires.

In Manitoba, we are supporting a response implemented by The Indigenous People’s Alliance of Manitoba-North (IPAM-N) to help purchase a pump and hose to fight fires and save lives in the community of Wabowden.

And in British Columbia, we established a response fund with the Ecclesiastical Province of BC, so that they are able to respond to needs quickly this summer.

Under the staff leadership of Naba and Jeanine, we continue to monitor the situation and are in communication with these and other communities and are grateful for your continued support and prayers as we work together to respond in these moments.

If people are inquiring about how Alongside Hope is responding, please feel free to share this information. For those looking for meaningful ways to support communities impacted by this wildfire season, we encourage them to visit: https://alongsidehope.org/give-today/ and select "In Canada Emergency Response.”

Thank you for all that you do and for helping us share these important stories.

Peace,  Su
