On Pentecost Sunday, 8th June 2025, at the 10:00 am Eucharist held in St. Paul’s Cathedral Kamloops, the Rev. Deacon Wendy McRae of Prince George, was publicly convocated with her Licentiate of Theology from Huron College, by Bishop Clara Plamondon. Later in the day at 3:00 pm, there was an Ordination Eucharistic mass. At the start of it the Rev. Wendy knelt humbly before Bishop Clara, to receive the tender laying on of hands and the prayer of consecration into the priesthood. After the Episcopal ordination, all the priests and pastoral elders in attendance, surrounded Wendy, and with their outstretched arms, they transmitted to her their blessings for her new life in the priesthood of Christ. The Northern Dean Rev. Jo Ann Hinter, had the honour of robing Wendy in a red chasuble and stole prior to her joining the Bishop at the Eucharistic table. Wendy’s beloved husband Ken, her parents and friends, watched Wendy’s holy consecration to the priesthood with great joy and wonderment, knowing what God has achieved in and through Wendy in her life to date. What also impressed the almost fifty people in attendance at St. Paul’s, was a touching backstory. In 2013, Bishop Clara herself was ordained on the same Pentecost feast day. Wendy’s 2025 Pentecostal consecration was the first priestly ordination presided over by Bishop Clara. It being the anniversary of her own ordination made this an extra special occasion. The whole ceremony was filled with solemnity and grace. After completed of the Eucharistic, we were all invited to a lovely reception in the parish Hall. We thank God for giving the ‘Territory of the People’ such a fine new priest and we hope she will be the first of many to come. For all the people behind the scenes involved in the preparation of such a profound and wonderful event, we express our deepest gratitude. With enthusiastic anticipation, we ask Jesus our sibling, to bless our newly ordained priest Rev. Wendy McRae and her family, all the days of their lives. Thanks be to God. Respectfully submitted, Marie Hay (friend.)
